So you’re looking to get into Network Marketing?
The allure of making money in network marketing is a strong one.
You see the fancy cars, the big houses, the fancy jets, and marketers working from the beach, and you think… “Yeah, I wouldn’t mind a piece of that.”
But should you really trust what you see on Instagram and Facebook and all these other social media sites? Is Networking Marketing really all it’s cracked up to be? Or is it going to end up with you losing money?
Well, in this article you’re going to learn everything there is to know about network marketing and whether or not it’s worth it for you.
Ready? Let’s dive in…
What Is Network Marketing?
Network Marketing also called Multilevel Marketing (MLM) is a distribution model that direct sales companies use to enlist the help of recruiters to market their products and bring other recruiters into the company and pay them a commission based on the results they bring in.
These recruiters are the companies “downline” and anyone they bring in to the company will essentially become the “recruiters” downline.
Often when a new recruit makes sales, both the company and the original recruiter will make a small commission from that sale as well.
Many people are skeptical about network marketing, with many believing it’s a surefire way of losing money.
However, although there are some bad companies out there, there are also some great companies who really are changing people’s lives, but you got to know what you are looking for.
Let’s begin by looking at both the pros and cons of network marketing:
Pros of Network Marketing
1. You don’t have to have your own business
One of the best things about joining a network marketing company is the fact that you’re effectively getting a business in a box when you join.
You don’t need to build your own website, create your own products, or handle any of the support ticket issues. The company handles all of that for you.
Essentially, your only job is to recruit new recruiters and sell products. Your network marketing company will take care of all the rest.
2. You can make money
You can make good money, depending on which companies you join. Now, obviously making money in networking marketing isn’t a surefire thing, but neither is building your own business.
Different companies offer different compensation plans. Some will pay a little more than others and it’s your job to make sure you are happy with the commissions you receive.
3. You get critical mentoring
When you are a part of a network marketing company, the one thing you get a lot of is mentoring and support.
Usually, you’ll get access to tons of supportive training videos, documents, and live webinars to help you sell more products and make more money.
If you get stuck or frustrated at any time, you know you have an entire team behind you waiting to help you get unstuck and moving forward as fast as possible.
When you are building your own business, you don’t have that support around you from people who have achieved the things you are looking to achieve. That’s why networking marketing can be so powerful.
4. You can work from wherever in the world
Aside from making more money, one of the main reasons why you are even thinking of joining a networking marketing company is ‘freedom’, right?
You’ve seen the top recruiters working from beaches, having month-long vacations on tropical islands while driving around in Ferraris and you want that same level of freedom in your life.
Freedom is definitely one thing you can gain from networking marketing. You don’t have to be stuck behind a desk, working 9-5 just trying to make sure you pay your bills on time.
With network marketing, you can run it from home, from a hotel room, from a beach, it doesn’t really matter as long as you have an internet connection.
Cons of Network Marketing
1. It takes time and sacrifice
Even though you see the top recruiters sitting on beaches, flying on private jets, and wearing their fancy watches, it takes a lot of time and hard work to get to that stage.
What you don’t see in the beginning is the sleepless nights, missed family events, no weekends, and hours of frustration it often needs to get to that point.
2. You need money to start
Another misconception is that you can start networking marketing for free. It’s going to cost you money upfront to join the company, pay for your set up and pay for their products.
With most network marketing companies in order to sell certain products, you need to purchase those products yourself in order to qualify to sell them. So it can end up costing a lot depending on the cost of the products.
3. You can lose money
Making money in networking marketing is not a certain thing. In fact, there are a lot of people who get burned. It’s not nice to think about but it’s true.
It’s hard, and it takes a lot of time and dedication and sometimes a little bit of luck.
You cannot expect to jump into network marketing and be guaranteed wealth. Just like anything in life, it doesn’t work like that.
Should I Join An Network Marketing Business?
After reading this article, it really depends if you are willing to handle all the cons I’ve listed above. Are willing to work extremely hard and make sacrifices?
