Be bold but smart in the brave new world of online marketing


The Internet is an ever-changing universe. Ergo, because online marketing is typically a big part of a network marketing strategy, it behooves you to keep up with trends and stay tuned to this segment on a regular basis.

Being wired has made participation in multi-level marketing or home-based businesses easy … perhaps too easy? Simply by investing a couple hours at your computer and accessing the Internet, you can launch a multi-level business. Of course, there’s a huge difference between participating in an online business and being effective with a business online.

Knowing your target market is a significant aspect to network marketing online. If you’re trying to reach twentysomethings, it would be logical to try to connect to customers via Facebook — not websites for retirement attractions in Florida. If the target audience is people who buy inexpensive personal products, it’s illogical to market to people who shop at Neiman-Marcus.

Internet marketing can be an expensive proposition; you can buy leads from “professional” lead generators, or have a hired gun design and optimize a website for big bucks. But you don’t  have to spend a lot of money if you do your homework. Learn the basics of SEO and if you elect to create an online advertising campaign with the likes of Google AdWords, be judicious in your keywords and search terms to keep your expenses low but your visibility relatively high.
