A network marketing success story beyond the kitchen

Lorraine Marceron of Frederick MD had modest goals when she embarked on her network marketing business:

  • Pay off credit-card debt.
  • Work as a part timer while maintaining her federal government job as a full-time employee.
  • Eventually quit the government job.

She had no sales experience when she began to sell kitchen tools and entertaining pieces for The Pampered Chef Ltd. in 1998. But less than two years later, the full-time government employee left her job to devote all her energy to sales in the multi-level marketing world. After 12 years with the company, the mother of three recently became one of 40 to achieve a $1 million sales level with Pampered Chef. Marceron’s accomplishments were possible because she made more money doing two cooking parties a week than she made working full time for the government. Full-time work for Marceron now means two to three shows a week, which she has been doing since 2000. Members of her team of consultants live in seven states plus one in Germany.

In her third year of business, she sold products worth $12,500 in one month, making her one of the top 50 Pampered Chef consultants in sales. Last year, she placed second in the company for senior directors.

Her mantra is: Don’t give up. “There will be bumps in the road, but bumps are meant to (be) driven over,” she said.
